About the role

RTKFnet is looking for a capable and proactive Finance Coordinator to take ownership of our day-to-day finance function and help strengthen financial control across the business.

This is a hands-on finance role covering bookkeeping, invoicing, credit control, reporting, payroll support and process improvement. It would suit someone with strong small-business finance experience who enjoys getting stuck in, improving systems, and making sure things are properly followed through.

The role is not just about processing invoices or keeping records up to date. We are looking for someone who can help us improve how finance works across the business: reducing overdue debtors, tightening invoicing processes, improving reporting, and making sure Xero and related systems are used properly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day bookkeeping and finance administration in Xero
  • Raise and send customer invoices accurately and on time, including renewals and subscription invoicing
  • Manage credit control and debtor chasing, including calls, emails, reminders and escalation where required
  • Help reduce overdue debtors and encourage customers onto Direct Debit where appropriate
  • Maintain sales ledger, purchase ledger, bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations
  • Process supplier invoices, payment runs, expenses and related records
  • Support payroll, pensions, commissions and related finance processes
  • Prepare clean month-end information, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and reporting support
  • Support management reporting using Xero, Fathom, Envy, Excel and other relevant tools
  • Work with the wider team to ensure sales, renewals and customer information is complete before invoicing
  • Identify errors, gaps or recurring issues and help improve the underlying process
  • Liaise with our external accountants where needed for year-end, technical accounting and compliance matters

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is accurate, organised and confident taking ownership of finance in a busy SME environment.

The right person will be comfortable working independently, asking questions, challenging missing or incorrect information, and following things through until they are resolved.

Essential experience

  • Strong bookkeeping or finance coordination experience
  • Hands-on experience with Xero or similar accounting software
  • Experience with invoicing, credit control, bank reconciliations and purchase ledger
  • Good Excel skills
  • Comfortable preparing or supporting month-end reporting
  • High attention to detail
  • Confident communicating with customers, suppliers and internal colleagues
  • Able to improve processes rather than simply follow existing routines

Useful experience

  • Payroll experience

  • Experience with Fathom or other management reporting tools
  • Experience using Dext, HubSpot or similar systems
  • AAT or bookkeeping qualification
  • Experience in an SME, family business, engineering, agriculture, construction or service-based business
  • Experience reducing overdue debtors or improving credit control processes

Working pattern

The role will initially need to be office-based while systems, handover and finance processes are stabilised.

Once the role is established and the finance function is running smoothly, some flexibility or home working may be considered by agreement.

We are open to either full-time or a 4-day working pattern for the right candidate.

Main aim of the role

To create stronger day-to-day financial control, cleaner reporting, improved debtor management, and better finance discipline across the business.
